On the 17th of December 2016 as a part of the training process quality upgrade Riga Aeronautical Institute (RAI) convened a meeting dedicated to organizational and methodological issues. The meeting was attended by RAI management and the representatives of Rezekne and Daugavpils branches and their students from the first, second, third and fourth years of study.

On the 27th of October Riga Aeronautical Institute successfully completed the courses for labor protection specialists.
The purpose of the course is to provide knowledge on the main issues of labor protection, to familiarize the trainees with the appropriate regulations, to learn to identify and eliminate the risk factors at the working places, which is necessary in order to perform the professional duties of labor protection at the enterprise.
On behalf of the RAI administration and instructors we congratulate the course participants on the successful completion of training. We also wish them success and look forward to welcome them again in RAI!

Riga Aeronautical Institute successfully continues autumn - winter season of the refresher courses.
The aim of the courses is to provide the trainees with a new theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as to inform about the latest developments and trends in the appropriate fields of activity. All refresher courses include linguistic component.
On the 28th of October, RAI finalized the refresher course "Air Traffic Management and Aviation English" and awarded the certificates to the students of the state enterprise "Kazaeronavigatsia".
On behalf of the RAI administration and instructors we congratulate them and wish them a successful and professional career. We always look forward to see them again in RAI!

Both the management and students of Riga Aeronautical Institute feel extremely honoured by their new comaradeship with Mr.Robert J.Craig, inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records as the World`s Oldest Active Air Traffic Controller. Mr.Craig has agreed to become an honorary instructor of Riga Aeronautical Institute. RAI students from Kazaeronavigatsiya which are right now studying to become air traffic controllers and undergoing their flight training in Florida have participated in celebration party for Mr.Craig to strengthen our new friendship. We are quite sure that it is one of the events they will remember all their lives.
Once again we would like to wish Mr.Craig professional and personal success and thank him for accepting our partnership.

On September the 6th 2016, Riga Aeronautical Institute convened the opening ceremony for the 2016/2017th academic year. The ceremony was attended by RAI academic staff and students, including the 1st year students. The ceremony was opened by the RAI Convent Chairman Michail Karol and the Rector Anatolijs Melnis, who greeted the students with the start of the new academic year.

RAI has introduced a new higher professional education program "Electronic equipment maintenance" in the frame of the study direction "Information technologies, computer systems, electronics, telecommunication, computer management and computer science". The graduates of this program will receive a professional bachelor degree with a professional qualification of electronic engineer. The duration of the program is four years (160 credit points). Both full-time attendance and extra mural tution are possible.

•Industrial and domestic electronic equipment maintenance (car electronics, office equipment, mobile and satellite communication systems, alarm systems, audio equipment, TV and video equipment);

On the 29th of July 2016 Riga Aeronautical Institute has successfully finalized the first part of the refreshment training courses scheduled for the spring and summer of this year. During this period we have provided refreshment training for different groups of trainees, like, for example, ATSEP specialists, ATCos, AIS specialists and quality management personnel. On the 30th of June and 1st of July 2016 Riga Aeronautical Institute (RAI) convened an international scientific conference “Transportation systems, logistics and engineering – 2016”.
More than 35 reports of different content were presented at the conference, including such subjects as flight safety, aviation education, economics, marketing and engineering sciences.
The conference was opened by RAI Rector, Anatolijs Melnis. Greeting speeches were made by Arnis Muižnieks, Director of the Aviation Department (Ministry of Communication), Faat Bogdashkin, the First Deputy of the Kazaeronavigatsia General Director, Karlis Kreslinsh, parliamentarian and professor, and Artūrs Kokars, Member of the Board of the Latvian Aviation Association.
