Riga Aeronautical Institute (RAI) extends its warmest greetings to all air traffic controllers on International Air Traffic Controller Day! Your professionalism, precision, ability to make critical decisions, and calmness under pressure are essential to ensuring safe and efficient air traffic.

On October 6, the RAI Conference Hall hosted the open lecture “Driverless Cars, Human Decisions: What Autonomous Vehicles Teach Us About Technology Policy,” delivered by Otto Kokars, who holds an MPhil in Technology Policy from the University of Cambridge. The lecture explored autonomous vehicles not only as a technological innovation, but also as an example of how emerging technologies can be introduced into society safely and responsibly.

On Teacher’s Day, Riga Aeronautical Institute extends its warmest congratulations and sincere appreciation to all our lecturers and academic staff. Your knowledge, professionalism, dedication, and commitment play an essential role in shaping the future of our students. Every lecture, practical lesson, and shared experience helps young professionals develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need for their future careers.

Students from Kazakhstan’s Kazaeronavigatsia have successfully completed a two-month flight training programme at Pelican Flight Training in the United States. Flight training is an important component of the professional education of future air traffic controllers. It provides students with an opportunity to experience aviation operations from a pilot’s perspective and gain a better understanding of aircraft operations, pilot workload and in-flight decision-making, as well as the importance of effective pilot–air traffic controller interaction. During the two-month training period, the students enhanced their practical knowledge and skills in a real aviation environment while gaining valuable international experience in one of the world’s most active aviation regions. The students will now continue their studies at Riga Aeronautical Institute within the Air Traffic Management study programme

Today we celebrate the anniversary of RAI – a day to proudly reflect on our achievements and look ahead with confidence. Over the years, we have grown into a respected centre of education and research in aviation, transport, and engineering.

Vadym Sytin, a second-year student at Riga Aeronautical Institute, participated in the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) hosted by Kielce University of Technology, Poland. The programme combined intensive practical training, international collaboration, and cultural exploration, providing students with an excellent opportunity to strengthen their professional competencies while gaining valuable international experience.
